Phase Equilibrium

This unit introduces the principles of phase equilibrium, including the concepts of phase, component, and degree of freedom. It explains the derivation and applications of the Gibbs phase rule and examines phase equilibria in one-component systems such as water and carbon dioxide. The unit also covers two-component systems, with emphasis on solid–liquid equilibrium and the simple eutectic lead–silver (Pb–Ag) system.
