Chemical kinetics is the branch of physical chemistry that deals with the study of the rates of chemical reactions, the factors that influence these rates, and the mechanisms through which reactions occur. Unlike chemical thermodynamics, which determines whether a reaction is feasible, chemical kinetics explains how fast a reaction proceeds and the sequence of elementary steps involved in converting reactants into products.
